Rossiter seeking instant revenge after Poole defeat
After the Swindon Robins failed to extend their six meeting unbeaten run on bank holiday Monday, suffering a 44-46 defeat to the Poole Pirates, Total Sport’s Ryan Walker was on hand to get the reaction of Robin’s manager Alun Rossiter.
A close night of speedway saw Alun Rossiter’s men lose by just two points on the night, and the boss admits that his side's starts out of the gates were the difference on the day.
“It was just one of those days, It was always going to be tough against Poole,” Rossiter began.
"It was a hot and humid day and we just weren’t getting out the starts as quick as we have been on other days.
“Fair play to Poole though, I always felt it was going to come down to a couple of points one way and unfortunately it went Poole’s way today,” he added.
After losing to such a narrow score line, defeat can sometimes be harder to take. But Rossiter insists he doesn’t see things that way.
“It’s never good to take a defeat,” Rossiter said.
“We’ve just got to be positive about it and we have got a good chance now to bounce back.
“That’s Poole’s first points on the road so far this year and we’ve got ten on the road so we have to take heart from that,” Rossiter added.
Following the final heat of the night, manager Rossiter called a group meeting in the pits and gave Total Sport an insight into what was being said.
“I was just speaking to them and trying to keep the boys confidence up,” Said Rossiter.
“I was saying to them that tonight was Poole’s first points away from home and to keep their heads up.
“We’ve got a great chance away at Poole on Wednesday evening to get a win,” He stated.
Away from Elite League Speedway Alun Rossiter must also focus on duties as team GB manager but with the World Cup finals just over a month and a half away, Rossiter wasn’t letting anything slip on team selection.
“I don’t have any solid ideas on team selection for the World Cup this year so far," admitted Rossiter.
“I’m still looking at riders as there is just too many hit and miss on form at the moment.”
