Rossiter: We'll bounce back from a difficult week
After recent back-to-back defeats against Leicester Lions and Wolverhampton Wolves respectively, things have taken a turn for the worst for Swindon Robins. Total Sport's Ryan Walker spoke to Alun Rossiter this week, to get the boss' take on the current situation.
Losing by just four points on the night to Wolverhampton, with a score of 44–48, Rossiter admits that it was a tough defeat to take but insists that the state of the track played a part in the overall defeat.
“We got beat by the track really," Rossiter began.
“I’m not making any excuses as it was the same for both teams.
“But when you come to your home track, you expect it to be like it was the previous week.
“But unfortunately it wasn’t," Rossiter added.
Heavy rain earlier in the week made it hard to carry out essential track preparations, and with six track grading’s being needed on the night, Rossiter explains that the main problems lay within the corners.
“Going into both corners was a bit of a problem tonight," Rossiter stated.
“I think the rain earlier in the week had a big effect as well.
“It made some big tram lines and we tried to fill them in again but they just broke up on the night," he said.
Three defeats out of their opening four meetings see’s the Swindon Robins sit in seventh place with just three points to their name, and manager Rossiter agrees that a run of bad results can have a negative mental effect on riders.
“Of course results like this can play on riders minds,” Rossiter explained.
“We want to be how it should be which is winning meetings.
“There’s nothing we can do now except build ourselves up for next week," he added.
With the Swindon Robins next being in action in a home meeting against 2nd placed Belle Vue on Thursday 21st April, Rossiter admits that while it will be tough, he is fully confident of a bounce back from his riders.
“I’m sure we will bounce back against Belle Vue next week," Rossiter insisted.
“All the boys will definitely be fired up coming into the meeting.
“They won’t be happy losing and I’m sure not happy about it either," he added.
