Snapped: Cornbury Music Festival
From the 4th to the 6th of July, Cornbury came alive with its annual festival of music, providing everyone with a weekend full of great music from an eclectic mix of artists from various genres. TGtS was there to witness the festivities....
With local acts and national treasures on board, the Cornbury Music Festival created another year of great live performances from across the musical spectrum; so no matter what your musical taste is, there was someone there to your liking.
Friday featured Dublin duo Hudson Taylor, perfect pop stars The Feeling, American troubadour Suzanne Vega, ‘Mr Wendal’ creators Arrested Development, beautiful pop diva Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and national treasure Jools Holland with special guests Melanie C and Marc Almond.
Saturday included festival favourite Jon Allen, American blues travellers Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, chart topping Nina Nesbitt, Illinois rocker Lissie, New Jersey’s Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, 60s icon Georgie Fame with Guy Barker’s 16 piece Big Band, Grammy Award winning country new girl Kacey Musgraves, pop hit makers Scouting for Girls and Scottish rock legends Simple Minds.
The festival continued on Sunday with fantastic X Factor 2013 winner Sam Bailey and finalist Luke Friend, zoot-suited Caribbean Kid Creole & The Coconuts, 70s rockers 10cc, ‘Kill Bill’ theme tune writer Tomoyasu Hotei, award winning blues guitarist Marcus Bonfanti, festival regulars Staxs featuring the fabulous Mica Paris, and Celtic fusion band Peatbog Faeries. Sunday’s headliner was the unique Gipsy Kings who made their first visit to the festival as part of their 25th Anniversary Tour, and it was their only UK appearance this summer as well!
If music isnt particularly "your thing" but comedy is, there were appearences from Al Murray, Mark Watson, and Jeremy Hardy at the Absolute Radio Comedy Emporium., so taste-wise, pretty much all bases were covered
