Speedway GP preview: Chris 'bomber' Harris

It's one of the biggest race dates in the calendar year, and Total Sport's Ryan Walker was on hand to catch up with Chris 'bomber' Harris ahead of the Speedway GP in Cardiff. Here's what he had to say...

Famously winning the British GP nine years ago in 2007, it will always be the most special of events to Harris, and the Coventry rider admits he can’t wait to get out there come Saturday evening.

“ Cardiff is always special for me, the atmosphere is always great, and it’s packed with fans.” Harris began.

“ It would be great to win it again like I did here in 2007.

“ The main focus is points and need to take each race as it comes.” He added.

Making the final and finishing third in his last GP outing in Prague just two weeks ago, Harris agrees his confidence is at a high going into the evenings event.

“ My confidence is on a high at the minute and it was really nice to get on the podium in Prague.” Harris stated.

“ It had been five years since my last podium finish.

“ Hopefully I can build on that going into the British GP and I’ll have to see what happens.” He said.

Sitting in 15th position in the series standings on 20 points, there is no doubt it’s been a difficult SGP year for Harris. But the Coventry skipper admits he is confident of still making the top eight.

“ The goal at the start of the tournament is always to make the top eight.” Harris admitted.

“ It’s been a mixed year for me so far in the series.

“ I’m still confident of making the top eight and need to keep my eyes on the prize.” He stated.

With a packed out crowd filling the Welsh stadium the atmosphere at the British GP is truly something to behold, and Harris can’t wait to get out in front of his home crowd.

“ Here at the stadium the fans really do get behind all the riders and especially the British boys.” Stated Harris.

“ I can’t wait to get out there and out on a great performance for the fans.” He said.
