Speedway GP preview: Niels Kristian-Iversen

As the speedway riders hurled around the track on practice day at Cardiff's Principality stadium, Total Sport's Ryan Walker was in the pits to grab a word with Danish superstar Niels Kristian-Iversen ahead of the big day, to hear his thoughts on his potential chances.

With the British SGP awaiting Iversen as he prepares to take to the Principality Stadium track on Saturday evening, the current number four admits he is looking forward to getting started.

“ I’m definitely looking forward to the event, I’m here and can’t wait to get started.” Iversen began.

“ The track was looking good out there on practice so it should be a good night.

“ It had a good bit of material out on it when riding in practice so let’s see how it is tomorrow.” He said.

With practice being a good opportunity for riders to test out there bikes on the indoor track some take it a lot more seriously than others. And Iversen insisted he takes practice seriously.

“ Practice doesn’t matter too much to someone riders but it is a good opportunity to test things out.” Iversen admitted.

“ The track can be different on race-day but it’s always nice to get a feel for the place and test the track out.

“ I’ve got a feeling for the track and hopefully it will be a good night.” He added.

A place in the final at his last GP event in Prague just over two weeks ago showed once again the top quality rider that Iversen is. And after winning the British GP last year, Iversen is hoping for more of the same this time out.

“ I hope for a good night out tomorrow evening and am taking things step-by-step at the minute.” Iversen stated.

“ I won here last year so the main thing is to just get more of the same.

“ I want to get my place on the rostrum once again so it should be a great night with lots of points.” He said.

A massive night of Speedway racing awaits all the riders on Saturday, and Iversen agrees that it is the biggest highlight on the entire riders calendar.

“ Cardiff is the one highlight on all riders career that they look out for.” Said Iversen.

“ It’s always nice to ride at such a big place like this and it is certainly a massive event.

“ It is the one that we all definitely want to participate in and I’m looking forward to it.” He finished.
