Speedway: Robins Recruit Grajczonek Once More

Swindon Robins have swooped to bring Josh Grajczonek back to the club for the 2016 campaign. In a winter period of constant activity over at the Robins' camp, the aussie becomes the latest addition to Alun Rossiter's side.

Grajczonek, 25, joins Australian compatriots Jason Doyle and Justin Sedgmen plus reserve duo Charles Wright and Stefan Nielsen as the fifth member of Alun Rossiter’s side.

The all-action racer enjoyed a short spell with the club in 2011 and has since gone on to win two Elite League titles with Poole.

He spent the majority of last season with Belle Vue after being snapped up as a replacement for injury victim Simon Stead early in the season, helping the Aces to reach the Elite League Grand Final.

Grajczonek, who arrives on a 6.00 average, is delighted to be back at the Abbey as he aims to take the next step with his top flight career by establishing himself as a heat-leader.

“I love riding at Swindon,” Grajczonek commented, “I've had a fair few good results there in the past, as well as racing for the club a few years ago before my season got cut short by a broken femur.

“Rosco and I were talking when he was weighing up his options, so when the phone rang a week or so later to offer me a place I was pretty happy.

“I've had a couple goes at the Elite League now, and the last three seasons I've made the play-off final with my teams which has been great.

“I moved to a heat-leader position at the end of the season and that's a bit harder. Some meetings I had were great and some were average, so my aim next year is to get back into a heat-leader position and work on my consistency.

“We are doing a lot of training now as its the off season, I've got a couple teams I'm riding for in Europe next season and I want to hit the ground running knowing I've set myself up for 2016 the best that I can.

“It should be a good season and I'm looking forward to getting racing now.”
