Stage set in Manchester as Robins face Belle Vue: Preview
Despite indifferent weather in Wiltshire, the sun is shining in Manchester where Swindon Robins will tonight take on Belle Vue Aces, tapes up at 7.30pm.
Swindon star Justin Sedgmen has called on his side to continue their fine form to cement themselves in the Elite League top four ahead of the encounter, as the Robins prepare to be lead out by guest rider Chris 'bomber' Harris, following injury to usual number one Jason Doyle.
The M&S Van Rental Robins climbed up to fourth place in the table after a third successive win against Lakeside at the Abbey last Thursday.
Sedgmen insists they never had any doubts regarding their ability after bouncing back from a tough start to the campaign.
The Australian racer has himself put together an encouraging run of form in recent weeks to play a crucial role in the Robins’ resurgence.
He is now keen to see them carry their momentum into their trip to the new National Speedway Stadium as they look to establish themselves amongst the front-runners to reach the Elite League play-offs.
“Things are going pretty smoothly now, it was a tough start but I’ve got a few meetings under my belt and I’m moving in the right direction again," Sedgmen said.
“We’ve had a few good wins to get our season going, so hopefully we can just keep that good run going.
“Now everyone has done a few more meetings they’ve figured things out with setups, and as a team we are all gelling together nicely.
“It’s all looking positive for us at the moment, so we just have to keep that momentum going now to cement ourselves in the top four.
“We got a bit of criticism after losing against Wolves, but we didn’t let it get to us and we always believed we’d sort things out.
“We’ll continue to work hard and do what we’ve done the last couple of weeks which is win meetings," Sedgemen added.
