Website 0330 002 1993Garner on player contracts:
"This is an ongoing conversation Ben Chorley and I have been having and also discussions with the club owner as well. We are still under parts of the transfer embargo and are still restricted in certain ways but player contracts are certainly something we are looking at over the coming months and moving into January. We don't want short-term success or short-term wins at this club, we want to build it long-term and we to have that sustainability. We always have an eye on the future on a weekly basis."
Garner on relationship with Jose Mourinho:
"I think my relationship with Jose Mourinho has been overblown a little bit. At the start of your Pro Licence you had to assess yourself against a Head Coach or manager and he was good enough to do that and allow me to go into Chelsea for a day. I had an hour with him having a chat and then watched training. That's as far as my relationship with him goes and at the time he was very gracious with his time and was a big help to me. I really appreciate him taking the time to do that."
Garner on his personal development:
"You're always learning and I think if you're aware then you are learning every day and it's important to do that. It is a challenge and we've had huge challenges here since I walked through the door. Those challenges are ongoing and it's still a difficult situation that has been inherited at the football club and we have gone from relegation favourites to having a strong start to the season that we are really pleased with and we are still trying to improve.
The most important thing is that we put these foundations in place and build a structure to the football club that allows it to be successful over the years. We still have our feet firmly on the ground and are not getting carried away as we have a long way ahead."
Garner on players fitness levels:
"I'm set on the team tomorrow with just one decision to make but the players are in a good place physically both those who have played and haven't played."
Garner on his time at Swindon:
"I've really enjoyed being here from day one. There are great people here and this is a great club. I'm thankful for the opportunity here and was confident I could come here and do this job well. Hopefully, we can continue to build this great football club. I definitely feel more comfortable here than at Rovers, but I wouldn't change anything as I learnt a lot from my time at Bristol."
Garner on Bradford:
"It's a big challenge and their manager has been very successful in this league. they are very good in transitions and pose a threat on the counter-attack as well as from set-pieces. They are a difficult outfit but If we hit our levels then I'm confident we can get the victory. You never know what will happen on the day and the previous run of results for teams but watching their recent run of games they looked very very good against Bristol Rovers and we know how tough a test this will be."
Garner on home form:
"We are desperate to win every game at home especially for the supporters and likewise away from home we are doing our best in every game for the fans. We are trying to turn the home draws we have had recently into draws. There is good momentum in this team and we are on a good run at the moment."
Garner on home and away form:
"We don't look at our home and away form, it makes no difference as our preparation is the same. We've won games away when we weren't at our best and not won games at home when we have put in a good performance. It's just a coincidence. Hopefully we can keep winning home and away. Every team poses a different challenge and it is just a case of identifying where teams are."
Garner on fitness investment:
"We've got a brilliant sports science and medical team and I really appreciate the investment in that area. That is a big reason why we are keeping players fit and why we are so physical and competitive. We have invested in the equipment as well as the staff and it's important the players who haven't played are still working."
Garner on Baudry:
"He had a really strong 90 minutes Tuesday night and showed his character and determination. He got a cut that got fixed up at half-time and he has done really well to get himself ready and back to full fitness. All players here have their own individual programs and we do what right is by them from a physical viewpoint. that's the reason they are in good shape."
Garner on Sutton victory:
"There is one or two areas we can look at, but I did notice their chance in injury time was offside. other than that it was how I saw things on the night."
Garner on Dion Conroy:
"Dion is good. He is having an injection in his ankle today for the swelling and won't be available for Saturday but will be back next week."
Ben Garner has now joined us.
So we are in the Zoom meeting and waiting for Ben Garner to join us.
A quick look at the League Two table puts Swindon as heavy favourites for tomorrow's league fixture with Bradford six points and nine league positions worse off than Swindon with the Bantams having won just once on the road all season - a 3-2 away win over Mansfield.
Swindon come into tomorrow's match off the back of an impressive 2-1 away victory over Sutton United on Tuesday evening. However Ben Garner's Robins will be seeking an upturn in home form after last weekend's draw with Rochdale saw Swindon make it just one win from six league home matches this season.
Good morning and thank you for joining us for another Friday press conference as we speak to Swindon Town Head Coach Ben Garner ahead of tomorrow's League Two home fixture against Bradford City.
