0700 392 1235After winning the 2017 British Premiership title last season, the pressure will be on the Swindon Robins to deliver once again, and although delighted with last years success, Morris explains that the past now counts for nothing as his side look to stage another title challenge.
“It feels great to be back at the club again this year.” Began Morris.
“We won the League last season, which was amazing, and now I’m back again at what I call my second home and I’m ready for the racing to begin.
“We’ve got a great looking team once again and anything can happen, we all want to perform well and hopefully pick up some more trophies come the end of the season.” He added.
“Winning the title was fantastic but I think everyone has enjoyed their celebrations and now we have to get on with the job at hand.
"We’re as concentrated as ever and I’m sure we’ll be competing come the end of the season.” He said.
BSPA Rule changes meant that teams are now only allowed one eight point rider in each side for the new season, and with a choice of being made to keep either current World Champion Jason Doyle, or Morris at the Wiltshire club, the 24-year-old explains how at one stage he wasn’t sure where he would be riding this year.
“I was never certain I would be back here this season, and it doesn’t get any bigger than being up against the World Champion to keep your place in the side. “ Joked Morris.
“Jason [Doyle] messaged me when it was all going on and said he didn’t want to fight over it and he realised that for himself it would be easy to find a new club, whereas I might of struggled a bit more.
“We’re both good friends and it was a tough decision for the club but I’m really happy that we have both found a team and I couldn’t imagine being at another club other than Swindon.” He said.
Doyle’s departure not only left a massive void in the point scoring abilities of the side, but it also left the side without a skipper and after being confirmed as the new club Captain at the teams press day, Morris is relishing the upcoming challenge.
“Being Captain brings more pressure but I need to concentrate on my riding and I’m sure the rest will all follow.” Stated Morris.
“We’ve got a great bunch of guys here, everyone listens to another and everyone has a voice within the team which is great.
“Last year in Britain was great for me personally and now with the Captaincy we are all going to need to gel together and get the job done.” Said Morris.
