Website 0330 002 1993Garner on right-back cover:
"I think we do have enough cover within the squad and Rob Hunt has done very well and probably been our most consistent player over the last 2/3 months. Joe Tomlinson can play on either side and he is actually right-footed and we have Akin Odimayo who can play there."
Garner on Louie Barry:
"For us I think he will be better upfront and down the middle, if we play a front two. If we play a front three then he is very effective off the left. For me the higher up the pitch you can get him then the more effective he will be. I thought he grew in confidence against Crawley and the way he has trained after Tuesday has massively improved as he is getting used to the group. He has fantastic quality and a real potential to do well in his career and with us."
Garner on the importance of February:
"Every month is important and you have to performant across the season. This is the most important month because it is where we are now. We have performed well against teams around the top of the division and we have had wins against most of them. We haven't played Exeter but there are points available there and if we do win then we pull away from them. Tuesday night is an opportunity to close the gap on Tranmere and wins in those games are huge."
Garner on recent form:
"We have drawn too many games across the season and it's draws where we have lost too many points. For the way we have performed and the way we have played, the draws have been the ones which have cost us. Again we have got to maintain positives and build on that."
Garner on player reactions after draws:
"I don't think it's a case of turning it around. There is definitely frustration amongst the players with Saturday and Tuesday but it's also something to build on in terms of lots of positives in the way we played and the way we controlled the game. There is no doubting the desire of players to push until the final whistle and decisions outside of our control have probably cost us 8-10 points this season."
Garner on Exeter similarities:
"I think that helps in some ways in terms of we have had a lot of teams who come to frustrate and I don't think Exeter will do that so it will be a different type of game. If we play well then we can definitely win. I expect both teams to try and play their normal way and I'm looking forward to it. If we play well then I'm confident we come out with the three points we want."
Garner on Captaincy:
"We have numerous players who can Captain the team and Jordan Lyden is one of those. You have players that lead with the ball, Jonny Williams for example who will take the ball in any occasion. We have leaders in the squad who lead by example."
Garner on Harry McKirdy yellow cards:
"[Going seven games without one] is a big improvement from him and the yellow card the other night was for the way he threw his arms, but he has done great with that and he now has to get through this month without getting another one."
Garner on Exeter:
"It will be a tough test and a good game. Matt Taylor has done a good job taking over and they pass the ball very well. They can certainly punish you on the counter-attack and we need to have good security behind the ball when they attack. We want that win and we feel hard done by from the last two games, we need to build on it and have the same level if performance but get the three points we want.
"The bigger the crowd the better for everyone and I expect it to be a great atmosphere."
Garner on shot conversion:
"It's about technique and doing better with the execution. It's frustrating we haven't taken more points [recently] and on expected goals we should have won our last three games. We need to stick to things that are getting us into those positions and fine tune other areas."
Garner on formation change:
"We can play both ways [with a four or five at the back]. The formation isn't the thing for me it's about the principles and how we play. We have the flexibility to do both and have layers who can play in different systems."
Garner on injuries:
"Mathieu Baudry has had a good week and is available. Jack Payne trained with the group for the first time yesterday and it's great to have him back involved. It's still a bit early for him for tomorrow. Louis Reed is banned for two games."
Garner on Joe Tomlinson:
"He has settled in really well, he is confident, has great ability and he has settled in really well."
Garner on Josh Davison:
"It's good news on the scan and he is in with a chance tomorrow. He is being assessed now and hopefully will be available tomorrow."
Ben Garner has now joined us.
We are on the zoom call but understand the club are running slightly late this morning so bare with us as we wait for Ben Garner to join us.
Swindon Town head into tomorrow's match clinging onto the last League Two playoff spot with Town just two points above the chasing Exeter City. That being said, a win for the Robins could push them up to 5th should other results go their way.
