In an exclusive interview with Total Sport Swindon at the culmination of Swindon's 3-0 win at home to Rochdale, Williams spoke in depth about the current system the Robins have been toying with.
Williams begun: "(Since the switch to 4-2-3-1) It is clear to see we do not dominate the ball anywhere near as much but there is a new problem for the opponents because instead of practising all week only to stop Swindon and press Swindon, now you need to try and attack us.
"You need to put some more players forward and leave us some space which is an unusual circumstance for us but I think is a different problem for the opposition."
When asked whether Town will now revert to a four-man defence going forward, Williams responded:
"Let me go back. We kept a clean sheet at Oldham, we conceded one goal against Shrewsbury, we kept a clean sheet against Oxford (in the EFL Trophy), we concede one from an own goal (against) Bolton, I don't think too much changed.
"But, at the moment, personally I was making it obvious and sensible for me to (play with) a back four.
"Recent results are making it obvious for me to try to put more midfield players to protect the back four and try to make the lines of defence deeper and, at the moment, has given us a draw and a victory so we will probably keep with it for the time being."
