Swindon Robins boss Alun Rossiter wary of the threat ex-riders can produce
Ahead of the first home meeting for the Swindon Robins, boss Alun Rossiter has warned his squad over the ex-Swindon riders that will return to the Abbey Stadium on Thursday.
Swindon lost their opening meeting of the season, at Leicester, but only lost by six points so did manage to leave the Midlands with a point.
The Robins are now set to welcome Belle Vue to the Abbey Stadium in their first home race of the 2017 campaign, and the visitors have two former Swindon riders on their books.
Robins boss Rossiter is all too aware on the abilities both Justin Sedgemen and Steve Worrall possess and he thinks the pair will be "up for it" tomorrow (Thursday).
“The two lads will be up for it and we have to make sure we are up for the challenge," Rossiter said.
“Justin did a good job for us last season and he was really unlucky not to be back with us, but we all know it’s a numbers game and this has been more and more relevant during the winter with new averages.
“I’m pleased he got sorted out when Belle Vue called him into their side.
“I’m a big admirer of Stevie Worrall, he’s come on leaps and bounds the last couple of years since his season with Swindon.
“He was pushing for a World Cup spot with Great Britain last year, his fitness is incredible and he’s also improved further as a rider since we had him here at Swindon a couple of years ago.”
Swindon have a whole host of new faces this season and Thursday is the first home outing for recent additions Bradley Wilson-Dean, Adam Ellis, David Bellego, Emil Grondal and Zach Wajtknecht.
SWINDON: Jason Doyle, Bradley Wilson-Dean, Adam Ellis, David Bellego, Nick Morris, Emil Grondal, Zach Wajtknecht.
BELLE VUE: Max Fricke, Steve Worrall, Kenneth Bjerre, Justin Sedgmen, Craig Cook, Dan Bewley, Jack Smith.
