Swindon Robins claim vital victory over Poole
Swindon Robins' play-off hunt remains intact as they edged a thrilling 50-42 meeting against the Poole Pirates on Monday night.
Captain Jason Doyle and Rohan Tungate were the stars for Swindon as they scored over half of the Robins' points between them, notching 13 points each.
The result was not secured until heat 14 of 15 when Swindon got to an unassailable 46-40 lead going into the final heat, which they won 4-2.
Poole's Krzysztof Buckowski was excluded for the 14th hear, what would turn out to be the decider, which allowed Nick Morris and Tungate to race home in style to claim a priceless victory.
Robins boss Alun Rossiter was understandably ecstatic with the result.
"I am really pleased with the resut and the performance of all the boys, we knew it was a big meeting and we had to do the business.
"Rohan was brilliant, he said the track was his friend rather than his enemy and his score showed it.
"Poole are such a good side, they keep coming back at you and you can never relax against them, that is why they are a top team.
"It is a good night for us because we have now added seven points to our league total from King's Lynn on Thursday and now this.
"We are in with a good chance of a play-off place and I know the boys are up for the challenge."
