Swindon Robins' Jason Doyle claims "nothing is bothering him" ahead of new speedway season
Despite suffering a serious injury back in October, Jason Doyle of the Swindon Robins says "everything is sweet at the moment".
Doyle was going for the world title late last year up right up until he punctured a lung, broke his elbow and dislocated his shoulder in the Torun Grand Prix.
The Aussie believes he is feeling good now though ahead of the season opener on Saturday, April 1.
"Everything is sweet at the moment,” Doyle said.
“I’ve had four months off now so I’m looking forward to the start of the year.
“Nothing is bothering me now, it’s just a case of moving forward, forgetting what happened last year and enjoying 2017.
“Obviously what happened at the end of last year was tough, but I think the year before was probably harder to be honest.
“When I broke my neck in Melbourne, I knew I’d done a good job on myself and when I saw the x-rays I realised just how lucky I’d been.
“Especially so soon after what happened with Darcy Ward, it was a bit of an eye-opener knowing I’d been so lucky and that injury was more difficult to come back from I think.
“What happened in Torun is all forgotten now. Hopefully I never have to be in that position again, but I know it’s racing and I’m just looking to move forwards now.
“Last year was a great year for me and I had a lot of fun, so I’m just looking to enjoy this year just as much and try to have a good year.”
The Robins head to Doyle’s former club Leicester on Saturday before launching their home campaign against Belle Vue on Thursday April 6.
