Swindon Robins vs Leicester Lions: Race preview

Swindon Robins will search for their first away win of the Elite League campaign as they take on struggling Leicester at Beaumont Park tonight, as captain Jason Doyle comes face-to-face with his former club.

The M&S Van Rental Robins raced to a 55-35 win over Coventry in their home opener on March 31 but have since been frustrated by two consecutive rain-offs.

They will now look to add to their Elite League points tally as they take on the Lions in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

The Midlands outfit have endured a tough start to the campaign, suffering four defeats in their opening four Elite League fixtures including home losses against Lakeside and Belle Vue.

Swindon boss Alun Rossiter insists they will still need to be at their best if they are to come out on top.

However, he hopes No.1 Jason Doyle can inspire the Abbey outfit to victory against his former club.

Rossiter said: “We’d like to think it’s a meeting we can win and a chance to pick up some points away from home, but you never know.

“They’ve had a few meetings more than us now and it could go either way. We’ve got to give them respect, and I still think it’s going to be a tough meeting even though they’ve been struggling.

“There are going to be riders like Jason Doyle who are out to prove a point, so hopefully that will give us an extra edge and we can come away with a victory," he added.

The Robins will be at full strength, whilst Leicester will hand a debut to Aaron Summers after he was snapped up as a replacement for Grzegorz Walasek.

Rossiter is delighted to see Summers gain another opportunity in the top flight after his efforts with the Robins over the second half of last season.

He added: “It’s nice to see Aaron Summers back in the Elite League. He did a great job for us last year, and I’m really pleased for the lad because he deserves it.”

LEICESTER: Patrick Hougaard, Nicolai Klindt, Aaron Summers, Szymon Wozniak, Sebastian Ulamek, Josh Auty, Paul Starke.

SWINDON: Jason Doyle, Justin Sedgmen, Josh Grajczonek, Rohan Tungate, Nick Morris, Stefan Nielsen, Charles Wright.
