Swindon Supermarine defeat title chasing Truro City after end-to-end clash

Swindon Supermarine kept their unbeaten league run going with a superb topsy-turvey 3-2 win over title chasing Truro City.

Marine who had never beaten the Cornish outfit in their previous 9 encounters made the perfect start when Henry Spalding’s pass rebounded back to league top scorer Harry Williams who stroked the ball home for his 32nd of the season with just 5 minutes on the clock.

Ryan Campbell nearly made it two with a fierce effort well saved by Hamon before Williams was forced to depart with an injury.

It stayed like that until the hour when James Harding replaced Joe Tumelty for Marine and from a long range shot by Conor McDonagh the ball struck Harding on the leg and looped in with his first touch!

But Truro are title chasers for a reason and struck back with a quickfire double on 67 and 69 minutes.

Tyler Harvey drilled into the corner to pull one back before a close-range bundle home from Yassine En-Neyah on debut made it 2-2 stunning the home crowd.

The long unbeaten run meant spirit was strong in the Swindon camp and with 10 minutes left Sam Turl won a header at the back post which Harding diverted home to make it 3-2.

Despite late Tigers pressure the defence held on and a top victory was confirmed. The play-off chase is on for Marine.
