Swindon Supermarine left it late to salvage a point against Tiverton

Swindon Supermarine showed fighting spirit coming back twice to gain a point against Tiverton Town on Saturday afternoon at the Webbswood.

Tivvy came racing out of the traps and into a two-goal lead inside 9 minutes. Tom Purrington bundled home the first after Josh Gould parried a cross away and then Nelson Iseguan held off Mat Liddiard to fire into the bottom corner for 2-0.

Swindon fought back swiftly and from a Henry Spalding free kick, James Harding’s glancing header got one back and by the half hour it was 2-2. Harding again – this time taking his time to pick his spot for his 17th of a productive season (9 goals in 7).

The second half was more even with defences on top but with 10 mins left Niall Thompson showed superb skill to swerve a free kick around the wall and into the corner of the net to give the visitors the lead back.

But the goal of the game was yet to come. A cross from Spalding was cleared away to Zack Kotwica 25 yards out who hit a volley first time which belted into the net for 3-3!

It was probably the right result in a hard, competitive but very fairly fought game.
