Swindon Town 2 Coventry City 2: Player ratings

Total Sport’s Danny Gallagher takes a look at the Robins’ individual showings during Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to Coventry City.

Lawrence Vigouroux – Didn’t have much to do in the first half. Was unlucky for the Coventry penalty, saved Tudgay’s original effort well, but was unable to get up in time to deny twice. Could have done better with the cross for Coventry’s first goal, caught out of position which looked even worse given his height advantage. 6/10

Jordan Turnbull – Some strong challenges in the first half, with plenty of advanced play down the Robins’ left flank. Continued his consistency into the second half and was awarded Robins’ man of the match. 7/10

Yaser Kasim – Looked up for the contest, though a tad reckless in the challenge. More spirit seen from Kasim than in recent games, but still was not able to get into his usual flow. 6/10

Nicky Ajose – Plenty of running from the small forward, looked to get behind the Coventry back line where possible. Won the penalty for Swindon deep into added time. Bravely stood up to take and converted with aplomb. Deserves credit for persistence. 7/10

James Brophy – Again replaced in the second half, but showed willingness and guile down the Robins’ flank. Capable of moments of magic, Brophy received hearty applause when leaving the field for Jon Obika, deservedly so. 6/10

Ben Gladwin – Played centrally this week, as opposed to out on the left of a front three. Much more adept in this position, Gladwin displayed his shooting capabilities frequently throughout the game, and found his aim late on in the second. His goal was the stand-out moment of the match, dropping his shoulder to fire high into the Coventry goal. 6/10

Anton Rodgers – Responsible for creating two of Town’s best chances in the first half, though he had a quiet game thereafter. Looked a little too conservative in midfield, Rodgers has had better games. 5/10

Bradley Barry – The game passed Barry by in most regards. He did however block Joe Cole’s effort off the line in the first half, keeping the Robins in the tie early doors. That aside, contributed little else of note. 5/10

Raphael Rossi-Branco – Strong at the back with one stand-out run in the first half, leaving four Coventry players in his wake. Reliable and an ever presence in the Robins’ back line. 6/10

Henrik Ojamaa – Always looked to beat a man out on the flank, but at times looked as though playing in slow motion. Cutting balls back across the box the Estonian looked dangerous, but not clinical. 6/10

Adam El-Abd – Gave away the penalty but that aside was perhaps Swindon’s best defender. Man of the match went to Jordan Turnbull, though El-Abd was a close second. The Egyptian is settling into life well in Wiltshire and his tough, no-nonsense tackles are winning the hearts of many fans. 7/10

Substitutions

Jon Obika – Came on to replace Brophy. Looked keen to get involved, though severely lacking match fitness. Good to have him back in contention, though he caused no worry to Coventry. 5/10

Fabien Robert – Replaced Ojamaa and caused some problems down the left. Like Obika, the returning Robert looked far from shape. Once his final ball is again polished, he’ll be a threat. 5/10

Subs not used: Tyrell Belford, Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, Drissa Traore, Jeremy Balmy, Jermaine Hylton.
