Swindon Town draw Forest Green in first round of League Cup
Swindon Town have today learned that they will face Forest Green Rovers at home in the first round of this season's League Cup.
Swindon only went as far as the first round last season, but put up a good fight against Championship side Norwich City, only losing 3-2 at Carrow Road in one of David Flitcroft's first games as manager.
Phil Brown will be hoping to guide Swindon to the second round for the first time since 2014 following defeats to QPR and Exeter in 2016 and 2015 respectively.
The League Cup has slightly rebranded for next season, as extra-time will no longer be played, instead draws after 90 minutes will go straight to penalties, and the ABBA penalty shoot-out system that was tried last season has been scrapped.
Swindon's tie will be played the week commencing 13 August.
The current holders of the competition are Premier League Manchester City, who beat Arsenal 3-0 in last season's final.
