Ajose, who finished second in the League One top scorers last season, is widely expected to be subject to plenty of bidding activity during the pre-season period.
Chairman Lee Power has previously made no secret of his willingness to sell Ajose, providing the price is right.
These sentiments were echoed by first team manager Luke Williams, who admitted that while he would love to see the pacey forward remain at the County Ground, a sizeable fee for the striker's services would greatly benefit the club.
This week however it has emerged that the Robins have spurned the advances of a Championship club who tabled an offer in the region of £500,000 for Ajose.
Speaking to BBC Wiltshire, chairman Lee Power stated: "It didn’t meet our valuation. (We) want to keep Nicky, everyone's got a price, will have to see how that develops."
Ajose himself has previously made clear his ambitions to play at a higher level and test himself in the upper bracket of the football league.
The former Manchester United trainee scored 24 league goals during the 2015/16, with a total of 25 in all competitions,
Ajose was a late arrival at the County Ground towards the latter part of the summer transfer window, after moving on a free transfer following the termination of his contract at Championship side Leeds United.
