Swindon Town rejected chance to re-sign Michael Doughty, Peterborough chairman reveals
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed that Swindon Town declined the opportunity to re-sign midfielder Michael Doughty.
Doughty has today had his contract terminated by League One Peterborough by mutual consent and is now a free agent, but when Peterborough's initial retained list was released, the ex-QPR man was on the transfer list.
The 25-year-old played 34 league games for Swindon across two loan spells in successive seasons, scoring seven goals in the process, but returned to then-parent club QPR in January 2017 when he was recalled by the west London club.
Peterborough picked him up that summer on an undisclosed fee, but has now left Posh just a season later.
Speaking on Twitter, Posh chairman MacAnthony revealed that Posh offered Doughty for the Robins, but chairman Lee Power decided against the deal. MacAnthony tweeted "We did call LP [Lee Power] at Swindon about him but nothing back interest wise there."
