Swindon Town reportedly in pole position to loan Wigan Athletic striker Kaiyne Woolery
Swindon Town are leading a two-club chase for Wigan Athletic striker Kaiyne Woolery, according to Alan Nixon of the Sun.
Forest Green, also of League Two, and managed by ex-Town boss Mark Cooper are in for Woolery but Town are the apparent favourites to sign the forward on a season-long loan.
Wooley is a 22-year-old striker who has been at Wigan since 2016, after joining the club from Bolton Wanderers.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Forest Green and scored four goals in 13 games for then-National League outfit Rovers.
Prior to Bolton, Wooley spent time at a number of clubs in non-league having been at Maidstone United, Tamworth and Stafford Rangers.
Woolery signed for Bolton in 2014 but only played one game for the Wanderers in the Championship and was loaned out to Notts County in 2015, but failed to score in his five outings for the Magpies.
He, too, has only featured once for Wigan, and the Latics are now keen to loan him out again. Wooley is contracted to Wigan until 2019.
Swindon currently have five strikers on their books: Luke Norris, Paul Mullin, Harry Smith (also on loan, from Millwall), Scott Twine and Jordan Young, however the latter two are unlikely to see first-team football this campaign.
