A 1-1 draw against fellow relegation candidates Shrewsbury would have caused concern among the Town faithful anyway, but it was amplified by a lack of new signings after Michael Doughty and Darnell Furlong were recalled from their loans from QPR.
This week, Swindon sparked into life and added four members to its squad - all loans.
Ben Gladwin, signing for the club for a third time, was the first (from QPR) on Tuesday and the following day a triplet of Chelsea youngsters (Charlie Colkett, Fankaty Dabo and Islam Feruz) followed.
Despite the actual signings, rumours have persisted and, for the second time this window, Total Sport have evaluated the likeliness.
1) Jermaine Pennant (Free agent)
This one is a very good box-ticker. He is experienced, he is a free agent, and he is a winger, which many Town fans would like.
Another category he falls into is a statement head coach Luke Williams made back in December which said that the club were looking at "top-level trialists" who had experience of the top flight.
Jermaine Pennant would certainly count as one of these. He boasts 195 Premier League appearances combined for Arsenal, Leeds, Birmingham, Liverpool, Portsmouth and Stoke.
The problem here, however, is the source - '@ElitePlayerRep'.
'Agent' protecting an identity - tick. Low follower count (at 256) - tick, claiming that done deals were announced by him weeks ago - tick.
Rumour Rating: 5/10
2) Oliver Hawkins (Dagenham and Redbridge)
It is no secret that Swindon are struggling for goals this season - their top scorer is Luke Norris who has four in all competitions. Is Hawkins the answer to Swindon's problems in front of goal?
This week it was reported by the Barking and Dagenham Post that Swindon had a 'six-figure' bid for 12-goal Oliver Hawkins rejected.
For once, perfectly valid source. Issue this time is though is competition.
According to the Evening Standard, Championship outfit Brighton, Ipswich and Nottingham Forest are also sniffing around and could be set to make a £250,000 bid for the six-foot-two sized striker.
Validity is high, chances of it happening are less so. First-team football may sway Hawkins but the arrival of Feruz may be a stumbling block.
Rumour Rating: 8/10
3) Christian Nanetti (East Grinstead Town)
A name that seems to come up linked with somebody seemingly every transfer window, Christian Nanetti has been linked with a move to the County Ground by that man @ElitePlayerRep again.
He may be familiar to you, he is most famous for appearing on Soccer AM's 'Skill Skool' in which he beat now Manchester City star Raheem Sterling when the pair were both at QPR's academy.
We are not rating the chances of this happening very high at all though.
