Swindon Town sign ex-West Ham right-back Kyle Knoyle on a free transfer
Swindon Town have continued their summer recruitment with the addition of free agent right-back, Kyle Knoyle.
Knoyle, 20, began his career at the Hammers in 2010 but left the club in 2015 and never played a league game for the side who now play their matches at the London Stadium, and was released this summer.
He did, however, play the full 90 minutes in a Europa League qualifier at Astra Giurgiu (which West Ham lost 2-1 and 4-2 on aggregate). Knoyle was booked.
In 2016, Knoyle had a brief loan spell at Dundee United, where he played nine matches, and in the same year he played a solitary match for Wigan in the Championship.
While at Wigan he suffered a badly broken and fractured elbow, just a week after signing for the Latics, that badly affected his game time at the DW Stadium.
Between 2013 and 2015, Knoyle played three times for the England Under-18s.
Knoyle becomes Town's second natural right-back, along with fellow new addition Ben Purkiss. Jake Evans can play there too, but he is originally a centre midfielder.
He will meet up with old employers West Ham in the not-too-distant future when the Hammers' Under-23 side come to the County Ground late next month in the Checkatrade Trophy.
The length of Knoyle's contract is undisclosed and we will wear the number 24 shirt while at Town.
