Ince, a midfielder by trade, is more accustomed to the holding role but he is also capable as a centre midfielder and as a centre back.
Given that he has signed on loan though, Swindon will more than the maximum amount of loanees allowed in a matchday squad (five) so two of Lloyd Jones, Fankaty Dabo, Ince, Ben Gladwin, Charlie Colkett, Islam Feruz and fellow deadline day signing Nicky Ajose will not be permitted to feature on a matchday.
Ince is the third cousin of ex-Swindon midfielder and former Manchester United, Liverpool and England player Paul.
The 24-year-old was first on the books at current Premier League leaders Chelsea, where he failed to make a league appearance, and in 2012 he was loaned to Yeovil Town initially on a six-month deal but injuries hampered his progress at Huish Park and he was recalled by Chelsea.
In February 2013, following a successful trial, Ince signed an 18-month contract at Brighton's development squad.
The following season, 2013-14, Ince played 28 games as Brighton reached the Championship play-off semi-final against Derby County, who went to Wembley.
He would be a regular cog for Brighton again the year, playing 31 times and scoring once, after but, under the management of ex-Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia, they struggled to replicate the form of the season prior.
Game time would be more rare for Ince last season. He got ten games for Brighton but found himself being loaned out to Fulham where he played another ten times and managed to score once.
Ince should be well-known by Swindon. One goal of his will be, anyway.
In a 2014 Capital One Cup tie at the County Ground, which Brighton won 4-2 after extra time, Ince scored a wonderful goal to give Brighton a tenth-minute lead.
