Swindon Town take on two more trialists while three say their goodbyes

Swindon Town have brought in two more trial players but Zavon Hines, Jordan Slew and Jack Bainbridge have all left Wiltshire.

As Town's pre-season rumbled on with a 1-1 draw against Salisbury City on Monday night, manager David Flitcroft confirmed that there are new faces around the squad at the moment, hoping to earn a contract at League Two Swindon.

One of them is a right winger - Andre Wright, who was released by Premier League outfit West Brom this summer while the other - a right-back, has not had their identity disclosed by Flitcroft.

Wright is a 20-year-old forward who, as well as West Brom, has spent time at Kidderminster, Torquay and, most recently, was at Coventry City, where he scored two goals in 11 games.

He also had a trial period at League One Gillingham this summer, but the Gills decided against him.

Both Wright and the right-back played the entire second half of the Monday draw at Salisbury and, speaking after the match, Flitcroft confirmed that Wright, 20, is one of the players on trial while Hines, Bainbridge and Slew have all been officially announced as gone.

"Yeah, we've had a look at Zav(on Hines), we just couldn't quite reach an agreement on Zav, so that one's gone now.

"Jordan (Slew) had an opportunity to go to Mansfield - one of the big hitters in our league in terms of paying money so he's had that opportunity to go there and it's 20 minutes from his house so he wanted to explore that opportunity so Jordan's done that.

"We're not going to do anything with Jack (Bainbridge), so we're trying people out and that's important for us to keep having a look at out of contract players and seeing what they can offer the football club."

Wright will not be going to the club's five-night training camp Portugal though, mainly due to red tape.

"He's not coming to Portugal, so we're just having a look at him.

"He's only just been in today, he's just done his first training session, his agent's got him down here this morning so done his first training session.

"It's already planned. We've got the names, we've got people, we know where we're going. You've got (things like) your passport. There's a lot that goes into planning a trip and Andre wasn't involved in that."

Wright may not be going to Portugal, but Flitcroft suggested other trialists may do.

"Possibly, yeah. It's more to make sure we've got two 10s out there, we've been doing a lot of 11v11 work, so 10 outfield players, so it's important we get 20 outfield players in certain positions and that'll give us a good chance to look at them in a 24-hour environment and you always find a lot about people when they're in that environment."
