Swindon Town to get biggest away support of the season thanks to Trust STFC
Swindon Town will play in front of their biggest away following of the season at the Ricoh Arena this weekend, after hearty support was shown in Trust STFC’s #5ktoCoventry initiative.
Over 2,000 tickets have been sold for the clash in the Midlands, which could have a major bearing on Swindon’s surprise late push for a play-off place, beating the club’s previous 2015/16 best – the 1,179 who made the trek to the Kassam Stadium in October to watch the Robins lose 2-0 to Oxford United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
More supporters will visit the Ricoh in Swindon colours on March 19 than saw Nathan Byrne’s late goal beat Sheffield United in the first leg of the play-offs in May, while the current number of tickets sold was only bettered on two occasions throughout the 2014/15 season – the games against Yeovil Town and Cheltenham Town.
Trust chairman Steve Mytton was delighted to see the #5ktoCoventry campaign had paid dividends, with over 1,300 sold in quick succession following the initiative announcement, and he urged any undecided supporters to purchase tickets and join the Red Army on the visit to the Sky Blues.
He said: “The main aim was to get kids along to their first away game and hopefully inspire one or two parents and lapsed fans along the way.
“We know that 5,000 was always going to be an optimistic target but the idea was to encourage as many fans as possible to make the trip – and we’ve seen evidence of this happening already.
“As well as the reliable few hundred who attend every week, it’s great to see the uptake so far and, judging by what we’ve seen on our social media accounts, plenty of young fans are going to get the chance to be a part of a great atmosphere for an important match.
“Swindon have only broken the 2,000-mark in terms of travelling attendances twice since the days of Paolo Di Canio, so it would be fantastic to make it third time lucky.
“Hopefully, we’ll see you at the Ricoh on March 19. It’s all set to be a terrific day out for a crucial game," Mytton added.
Thanks to financial support from Excalibur, the Trust will be handing out 100 free scarves to youngsters for the clash at the Ricoh. Parents interested in getting their hands on the limited-edition memorabilia should email

Tickets for the game are all-ticket to Swindon fans and will remain on sale until 4pm on Friday, March 18. To book, contact the STFC box office
