Hylton made the trip to Sixfields with the Swindon squad for what turned out to be a 2-1 defeat to the Cobblers but went home before kick-off after being told he was not part of the matchday 18.
He was told to join the team at Northampton just in case fellow striker Luke Norris was unable to be fully fit for the match but the ex-Gillingham striker passed a fitness test which deemed Hylton surplus to requirements and the 23-year-old decided to go home.
Speaking after that match, Williams told BBC Wiltshire: "My personal opinion is that it's not (acceptable) and Jermaine will have a different opinion and I'm sure it's something that we will sort out in-house.
"I think, certainly, we will have a conversation and see what the reaction is after that."
Just over a week has passed since those comments and there is yet to be a decision on what stance the club will take with Hylton.
Following the 0-0 draw with Oldham, where Hylton was not even named on the bench, Williams said Hylton will only know his fate when the "right decision" has been made.
When asked on Saturday, Williams said: "I think we've concentrated more on the game, (that's) the honest answer. We've concentrated on the game and we'll deal with that matter in the coming week.
Hylton's contract at the County Ground is due to expire this summer.
