Primarily this summer, Flitcroft has been using a 4-3-3 in the first half of matches and a 4-4-2 in the second half, however at Salisbury he deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation throughout.
Swindon Town beat Swindon Supermarine and Melksham 7-1 and 5-0 respectively using the former two formations but struggled in the 4-2-3-1.
The 4-2-3-1 saw Paul Mullin, traditionally a striker, deployed as a right winger for the 45 minutes he was on the pitch while regular wing-man Donal McDermott was used in the 'Number 10' role behind the striker.
When asked at the conclusion of the Salisbury draw whether there was a system he was preferring at this stage, Flitcroft replied: "No. Absolutely not.
"You've got to be flexible. Players have got to understand that in each system, when you play against a different formation we're going to have to be flexible and maybe change at times and how the momentum of the game is going.
"So, is it more of a defensive structure of the team or an attacking structure?
"I'm awaiting one or two players coming in which, again, might signal something different but we're having a look at a lot of different options.
"That's what we're trying to do at the minute, it's a real trialout phase for everyone in the squad."
