Website 0330 002 1993Garner on Jack Payne potential return:
"I think there is a chance [he could be available for Salford] but I don't like to put too much on it. It is literally a day-to-day process now and it is just the type of injury it is. You get fully recovered and it is just now the actual injury itself in certain moments. He is fulfilling a criteria with our sports science team but he has to tick those boxes in training. It was a really positive day for him yesterday and as soon as he is right and ready he will come back into the squad no doubt. We just need to make sure we haven't done 98% of the work and we cut the corner on the last 2% and set him back."
Garner on Rob Hunt's recent performances:
"I think he has been consistent pretty much all season and he is very versatile playing in different positions. He has played in a back-three at centre-back, left-back, right-back, right-wing-back and you need those players with that versatility and that intelligence to be able to do that. Rob can do that and he has captained the team in recent weeks because of how professional he is and the standards that he sets and the consistency of what he does. We are really pleased with him, he is in good form at the moment and hopefully he can maintain that until the end of the season."
Garner on first consecutive clean-sheet since August:
"I think we should have had a lot more but it is very difficult to keep clean-sheets in this division. Every team poses a different threat whether it be a threat off set-pieces or a threat in open play. I think a couple of times we have been unfortunate. Colchester, without doubt, should have been a clean-sheet, Crawley if that penalty isn't given which it shouldn't have been is a clean-sheet and that is the fine margins you talk about. Really pleased with the clean-sheets and that is something we want to maintain and build on."
Garner on loan deals being made permanent:
"That will be something to look at at the end of the season and in all honesty is out of our hands. Our recruitment is already underway for next season."
Garner on Walsall's new manager bounce:
"I think it depends and can be different situations. When a team is on a bad run as Walsall were that new voice can give players a lift and it is interesting to see. You might get that initial bounce and then it levels out. It's never nice to see a manager lose his job."
Garner on Louie Barry:
"It was great to see and something we spoke about [getting him into the back post] and the best example of that is Raheem Sterling at Man City. Louie has got a fantastic attitude and talent and that goal will give him confidence. He can go on and get a goal or assist every game."
Garner on Ricky Aguiar:
"He came highly recommended to us and it is one we acted on. We watched him last season at Worthing and he has really developed this season with a really useful loan at Chippenham. He has worked ever so hard, particularly off the pitch in the gym. His full league debut on Saturday was great."
Garner on injuries:
"Dion Conroy trained fully yesterday and I don't see that being a problem. Jack Payne trained a bit more and it's about progression with him. That's the way it goes sometimes and everyone has to fight to prove themselves in this squad."
Garner on Walsall:
"They've won their last 2 and won on Saturday with Flynn in charge. I watched them against Scunthorpe and they were very unlucky to not win and that cost Matt Taylor his job. Michael Flynn coming in gives them a new lift and new motivation. If you can get a run of wins together in this division it makes a huge difference and can propel you up the table.
"He played a shape that he often plays against Newport at the weekend and whether he does that again Saturday remains to be seen. He did a really good job against Newport and has a good squad with good size and good attributes."
Garner on travel back from Carlisle:
"It was a very good journey and we had a good recovery session and our back in today on the grass. We had a good idea about the weather for the weekend."
Ben Garner has now joined us.
Saturday's impressive performance ensured Swindon leapfrogged Newport back into the League 2 playoff places.
Swindon come into tomorrow's fixture off the back of a thumping 3-0 away win against Carlisle United at the weekend with Swindon's attackers enjoying their most prolific away victory since the start of the year as Harry McKirdy, Josh Davison, and Louie Barry all got on the scoresheet. Saturday's victory also marked back-to-back clean-sheets in the league for the first time since August.
Good morning and thank you for joining us early this Monday for Ben Garner's Swindon Town pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's County Ground clash against Walsall. We will be underway around 8.30am.
