Swindon Wildcats are delighted to confirm that Welsh forward Chris Jones will be returning to Wiltshire!
Swindon Wildcats are delighted to confirm that Welsh forward Chris Jones will be returning to Wiltshire until the end of the 20-21 season, after signing a new 2-year deal with the club.
Chris, who joined the club from Cardiff back in 2017, was influential last year as the Wildcats became NIHLS1 League Champions. On his way to being named the player of the year for NIHLS1 last year, he scored 77 points in 53 games in all competitions.
A big part of the powerplay and the forward unit, ‘CJ’ scored many important goals for the club, as he had done the year before on the way to the National and Autumn Cup championships.
Head Coach Aaron Nell was delighted to have secured his services for a third consecutive season:
Bringing CJ back for two years is huge for us, he’s been a crucial part of the club for two seasons now and is a massive part of our team. He has a habit of scoring huge goals for us and is a very important part of our powerplay.
We were pleased and proud when we found out he had been made player of the year in the league last year. He deserved it and in all competitions was our top point scorer. Going into the new National League is going to be a change for us and we are really pleased we’ll have CJ in our team for the next two years.
Chris himself was just as happy to have signed for another year in Swindon adding:
It’s great to be back for my 3rd year in a row now and I’m very excited for September.
Over the last couple of years, we’ve built a great culture with an awesome group of guys and that’s a huge reason on why it was an easy decision to come back!
The new league is going to be a challenge for us, but we know how good we are and how good we can be, and with a few little changes here and there I’m sure we will be pushing for all trophies available!
