Swindon Wildcats confirm Renny Marr for Two Seasons
Swindon Wildcats are thrilled to confirm that Renny Marr has signed a new contract with Swindon for a further two seasons after putting pen to paper until the end of the 21/22 NIHL season.
Renny initially joined the Wildcats at the start of the 2017/18 NIHL Season and at the end of this deal will have completed his fifth season with the team. In his previous two seasons with us he’s collected the NIHL South League Winners Medal in 18/19 but also the NIHL Autumn and National Cups in the 17/18 campaign.
Each year he’s improved and raised his game, especially this season with the new National league reaching its exciting climax. With silverware still up for grabs Head Coach Aaron Nell was delighted to have secured such a vital piece of his team for the next two years.
“Renny has been nothing short of outstanding since he first arrived in Swindon. He had big shoes to fill coming into replace Stevie Lyle but he’s made the spot his own. I am over the moon he’s decided to stay with us for two more years, he gives us a chance to win every night and in my opinion he’s the best netminder in the NIHL.
Renny’s game has come on leaps and bounds since he arrived here and at just the age of 22 his best years are still ahead of him, which is an exciting thought for all Wildcats fans.”
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Renny was equally as delighted to be staying in Wiltshire.
“I’m so excited to be staying in Swindon for another two years. It really does feel like home now so it’s great to be back playing for such a brilliant organization. It’s a huge feeling to know the next two summers I don’t need to worry about contracts and where I’m going to be playing. I can just focus on training and getting myself ready for the next season.
The league has become more competitive and anyone can beat anyone. I can only imagine it’s been more enjoyable for the fans because I know firsthand how exciting it is to be playing in the National league. I can’t wait for the next two years to be playing in front of the noisy Cats fans again. The plan is now to bring some more silverware back to the Link Centre so you can all have a very happy summer!
We’d like to thank The Hardy Family for their continued sponsorship of Renny this season and would like to remind everyone that you can contact our Commercial Manager Sally Price for all sponsorship enquiries on [email protected]
