Swindon Wildcats confirm Tyler Plews for another season
Swindon Wildcats are delighted to confirm that Tyler Plews has also signed a contract extension to remain in Swindon for another season. The Scottish D man joins Renny Marr, Aaron Nell, Tomasz Malasinski, Sam Bullas, Chris Jones and Stevie Whitfield for the 20/21 campaign starting in September.
Tyler has proved to be one of the most popular members of the team since he arrived from Edinburgh in the summer of 2018. In his first season with the club he was awarded the Most Improved Player award by Aaron Nell and has continued to grow and impress in his second season in Swindon.
Leading the Defence in goals with six to his name, Tyler has adapted his game to cover all areas of the ice, something which Aaron Nell was keen to point out following his contract extension.
“I’m delighted Plewsey has decided to return for another season, when we signed him we knew we were getting a raw defensive talent. He’s come in and worked really hard and has improved loads since he first arrived here.
Much like Bully, the fans absolutely adore him, and he takes great pride in playing for the Wildcats. The work he’s now doing with the Community is amazing and I know the schools we visit love having him in talking about hockey.
I can’t wait to work with him for another season and I know the fans will love to see the 24 jersey back on the ice next year.
Similarly, Tyler himself was undoubtedly thrilled to have joined fellow countryman Renny Marr on next year’s team.
“I’m over the moon to be back in Swindon for another year. Swindon is a home away from home and there is nowhere else I’d rather be playing. The Nell family have taken great care of me since I arrived in Swindon and were a huge factor for me signing back. Getting treated well as a hockey player is one thing but getting treated well as a person is another thing.
I feel like this season I’ve started to show what I can do and how I know I can play. I’ve had more ice time which has come with more pressure and responsibility which I have massively enjoyed taking on. The National league has been so competitive and has led to more intense games outside the EIHL which is great for British Hockey.
Swindon fans have been amazing since I arrived, and I can only ask them to keep the fantastic noise levels up week in week out. I know the boys and I really appreciate the support we get across the country and hopefully we can repay you with some more silverware before we get into the summer.”
We’d like to thank Jim & Sue Power for their continued sponsorship of Renny this season and would like to remind everyone that you can contact our Commercial Manager Sally Price for all sponsorship enquiries on [email protected]
