Swindon Town cap off pre-season campaign with victory over Wycombe
Swindon Town finished their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers, as they returned to the Nigel Eady County Ground on Saturday.
Ollie Clarke netted the only goal of the contest, as Mark Kennedy’s side put the finishing touches on their match work before the start of the League Two campaign.
A couple of fine saves in quick succession from keeper Jack Bycroft kept the scores goalless early in the contest against the Chairboys.
The hosts almost created an opening on 30 minutes but Aaron Drinan’s pass across goal from the right just evaded frontman Paul Glatzel.
Clarke then produced the decisive moment with 67 minutes on the clock.
After meeting a flick on and running into the box, the former Bristol Rovers and Mansfield man drilled the ball into the bottom corner to open the scoring.
That was how the game finished as 2,335 people saw Town in action for the first time on their home patch in 2024/25.
Mark Kennedy’s side begin their league campaign with an away game against Chesterfield on Friday (8pm).
