Let's Talk
TGt Meets... Joe Clements, T2 Fitness
With everyone wanting to get fitter, stronger and closer to achieving their fitness goals than ever, we're talking to Joe Clements of T2 Fitness. We talk about keeping focused,
How did you turn your passion for fitness into a career?
I took a PT course soon after finishing college, managed to get a job in a gym straight away, and I’m fortunate to say it’s snowballed from there.
How do you stay fit and healthy?
Plenty of exercise, the odd beer and lots of joking around.
Do you have a motto or favourite motivational quote?
"The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is today."
What’s your favourite sport or exercise?
Gymnastics
What are your tips for people looking to get into shape?
Make sure you can commit to making the necessary changes in your lifestyle before you start. Because even if you have the most rigorous training programme in the world, you won’t reach your aesthetic goals if you’re on the beers and takeaways every weekend.
What are some mistakes people make when training/working towards a weight or fitness goal?
Allowing yourself to get sidetracked. Everyone has an unplanned busy week at some point, those weeks often derail fitness plans all together. You have to accept that life will get busy and still manage to stay focussed on your goals. The people who can do that are the ones who are successful.
Are there any exercises you advise against?
There’s always that one person who squats on a Bosu / Swiss ball, whilst doing a bicep curl. Please don’t!
What music do you listen to when you work out?
Anything from The Blackout to Pharrell.
What foods are always in your fridge?
Eggs. Always.
What's the most rewarding part of your job?
Shouting at peop… Uh, I mean helping people achieve their goals, whether that’s by fitting into a dress, helping people out of pain, or by teaching them new skills!
