The pressure on Swindon Town "is building and building" according to Luke Williams
Swindon Town head coach Luke Williams has conceded that the pressure on the club "is building and building" as remaining matches to save themselves from relegation are running out.
The Robins are without a win in six and, prior to the 0-0 draw with Oldham on Saturday, they lost five in a row.
They are currently in a run of games where seemingly every match is against those around them. After losing to Bury (now 20th) they lost at Northampton (now 15th) and on Saturday they travel to bottom of the table Coventry before hosting 18th-placed Gillingham.
That is followed by Chesterfield (23rd) at home and the run ends with a visit to Port Vale, who are situated in 21st at the moment.
Speaking after the Oldham draw, Williams admitted that "the pressure is building and building" on him and his players.
"We know that, and it's our job to be able to deal with that," he continued.
"If you want to have a career or want to work in this industry you need to be resilient, even when your own fans have turned on you you have to stay strong together because nobody else cares about you.
"You have to look inward, look in the changing rooms and stick strong together.
"Every result feels awful if we don't win at the moment. A draw is slightly more bearable than a defeat but there's not a great deal in it if I'm honest.
"It's pressure. Games are running out and we need to string some results together otherwise we're going into the last few (in a) win every game situation which I think is too much pressure to put ourselves under. I think we need to try and chip away with victories as quick as we possibly can."
Williams was frustrated by Swindon's inability to convert one of their 26 shots on Oldham's goal on Saturday, but he is of the opinion the fact that, due the Robins creating that many chances, they should take inspiration from the display.
"I think it gives us hope. If I was a player in the changing room today I would think I'm looking forward to the next game because if we perform like that it's only a matter of time before the ball hits the back of the net."
Whatever the result at the Ricoh Arena, or elsewhere on Saturday, Swindon will remain in the bottom four of League One.
