The Swindon Robins are "carrying too many passengers" according to Alun Rossiter
Following the Swindon Robins' 45-48 defeat to the Kings Lynn Stars on Thursday evening, Total Sport’s Ryan Walker was in the pits to get the reaction of team manager, Alun Rossiter.
A disappointing night for the Swindon Robins saw the Wiltshire side struggle to pick up heat wins all evening, and Rossiter was critical in his analysis of some of his riders.
“I don’t think we’re vulnerable at home, I just think we are carrying too many passengers," Rossiter began.
“A couple of the middle order boys are struggling.
“Bradley fell and hurt his hand early on, but his league performances have still not been good enough.”
Scoring 30 points between them on the night, captain Jason Doyle and number five Nick Morris did themselves proud, and Rossiter warned that the other riders need to start scoring well or they could soon face the axe.
“Adam Ellis is struggling and we cant just keep relying on Jason and Nick to pull us out of the way all the time.
“We got lucky tonight and it’s as simple as that.
“Changes are very much so in mind and the middle order have got to buck their ideas up, and fast.
“I’ve already made one change and I’m not frightened to make wholesale changes if that’s what’s needed.
On a night when the Robins only heat wins came through Doyle – who scored a maximum 18 points, manager Rossiter explains how gate starts on the night were the difference between the two sides.
‘We just got out gated all night and that was the reason we lost it," Rossiter said.
“When we gated we won and David [Bellego] for example didn’t win a race all night and he’s been winning heats for fun here this season.”
Having slipped to 6th position in the Premier League table and with no home victory all season, Rossiter admits that his side’s home form is cause for concern.
“It;s getting to crunch time and we can’t afford to be letting things get away.
“We have to start winning at home.
“It is a little bit worrying that we have no home league win so far, but it’s also very disappointing too."
