Tim Sherwood appointed as Swindon Town's Director of Football
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has been appointed as the Director of Football at Swindon Town.
Sherwood, who also took Aston Villa to an FA Cup final as manager, has been labelled "the biggest appointment the club has made in a long, long time" by Swindon chairman Lee Power.
The former Blackburn midfielder's role at the club does not equal a demotion of Luke Williams' position and is not under contract at the County Ground.
Power remarked that Sherwood is "not here for the money, that is for sure."
"He will be head of all aspects, that will be transfers, the way that we will play, the formation and the picking of the team," Power said in the press conference.
"I think we are very mindful not to use the title 'manager' because it is not a demotion of Luke Williams - everyone in the football world knows he is a top, top coach and that will continue."
On his appointment, Sherwood revealed he has had other offers at clubs, but this "is an interesting project.
"Luke Williams is at the football club because of me, I recommended him to Lee, I think he is a very good coach and he has a lot more to come.
"I have just came here to help out in any way I can."
