New recruit Sobowale sets sights on promotion with Swindon Town

New Swindon Town signing Tunmise Sobowale insisted Mark Kennedy’s team “should be looking to get promoted” next season.

The 25-year-old became the club’s second new signing of the summer, after Ollie Clarke agreed terms earlier this month.

Sobowale, who has played for the likes of Waterford and Hercules, arrives at the County Ground from Shrewsbury Town, where he went on to make 29 appearances in League One last season.

And the Irish wing-back set his goals from the outset as part of the Swindon squad.

He told the club website: "It feels great to get the deal sorted and coming here today I've been welcomed by everyone and it's great to get a feel for the surroundings and the place is full of so much history and can't wait to get going.

"I'm loving the energy that I get from the club, we should be looking to get promoted and I'm just looking forward to getting out in front of the fans."

Head of football Jamie Russell added: “Tunmise brings energy and he is very dynamic going forward and for the two systems that we are looking at, it is really important that we have got athleticism in wide areas.

“He definitely fits that and also it helps that he is a good size, which is important when it comes to defending set pieces.”
