Vic Morgan: Now is the Time You Back Your Team

It’s time for a bit of resolve. Let’s face it, the start to the season hasn’t been what we hoped for after the narrow miss of last term.

Indeed the sound of frustration was evident at the County Ground on Saturday and felt on the journey home after the Colchester defeat.

So what happens now? Do we stop supporting? Of course we don’t. Now is the time you back your team and cross your fingers that the recent slump comes to a swift end. Even if it doesn’t, it’s not the moment when you give up on your club.

After all, we’ve been through situations like this many times before. Those of us who were at Brentford one Tuesday evening will recall how rumours were spreading that our club was minutes from folding. The fact that we still have a team to support is worth celebrating no matter how frustrating this current spell is.

Think back just a couple of weeks prior to the Barnsley game. Think of the optimism that surrounded that match, okay, it was soon dissipated once the match was half way through. Still it’s only a couple of weeks.

As people who know me will tell you, I’m not a half glass full kind of person. Hope for the best, plan for the worst. It’s a motto that’s kind of relevant when supporting a football team. It’s also the motto of fictional character Jack Reacher and he seems to do all-right.

The next three games are crucial to our season. Two away league matches and then the JPT at a ground somewhere along the A420.

Four points from the League One games and a win at the Kassam would make life so much better.

If that doesn’t happen? Well okay, but don’t let’s give up. However questions will arise and I hope we hear them and I hope we get answers.

As fans we need to support but we also need to be treated like adults. It’s not always rosy, that we accept. When times get tough be straight and we’ll back you one hundred per cent. The only thing that matters to a fan is Swindon Town Football Club!
