VIGOUROUX: RESULT SHOWS OUR TEAM SPIRIT

LAWRENCE VIGOUROUX put in a man-of-the-match performance to help Swindon Town keep their unbeaten home record alive drawing with MK Dons 1-1 at The County Ground. TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker caught up with the goalkeeper after the match to get his thoughts.

Another last-minute goal saw Swindon Town come from behind to earn a deserve league point, and Vigouroux insists the result is down to the great team spirit.

“I think it’s down to the team spirit,” said Vigouroux.

“We work right till the end and I think that’s showed in our home games this season.

“We got the point, which I think on reflection is what we deserved,” he added.

Conceding from the first corner of the match highlighted Town’s weakness in dealing with set-pieces, and on reflection, the Swindon goalkeeper admitted it was a “sloppy” goal to concede.

“It was a sloppy goal to concede,” admitted Vigouroux.

“The first corner of the game, but the result is a credit to the boys.

“We managed to keep this unbeaten win at home going,” he added.

Having previously come from behind at The County Ground, Swindon has the experience to know what is needed to get themselves back into matches. And when analysing the match, goalkeeper Vigouroux highlighted how the relationship between players is key to success.

“We just had to keep doing the things we worked hard on in our previous two home games,” Vigouroux said.

“We kept grinding away and trying to get a point or even three points.

“I think the result shows the spirit of the team squad and what the managers done with us,” he added.

“He’s helped us get that team spirit, and it’s a credit to him as well.

“We work a lot on the pitch and we’re very close off the pitch,” he said,

“I think that shows and you could see that when we scored the equaliser today.

“Everyone is working hard for each other and that’s the most important thing,” stated the 24-year-old.

Aside from club football, Vigouroux has been given his first international call-up for his father’s national country of Chile. And when asked about his excitement of joining up with the team, the Swindon shot-stopper admitted it was a dream come true for him to receive the call.

“I found out I was in the preliminary squad about two weeks ago,” said Vigouroux.

“I spoke to the manager [Jorge Sampaoli] and he told me to just keep working hard and see what happens.

“At first when I got the call I thought it was a prank,” he said.

“I’m heading out tomorrow and am just going to enjoy it and see what comes of it.

“I’m going to be training with some world-class players at top clubs, and it’s going to be great to see what they do and how they approach games,” he added.

“There are a lot of dreams that I’ve had in football and this is definitely one of them.

“Hopefully I can do my dad proud first and foremost, and hopefully can make Swindon proud,” added Vigouroux
