Wildcats secure Tomasz Malasinski on new deal
Star Polish import Tomasz Malasinski has signed a two-year contract extension with the Swindon Wildcats, keeping him at the English Premier Ice Hockey League club until the end of the 2017-18 season.
The 29-year-old right-winger has been a revelation since arriving at the club two years ago, accumulating 74 goals and 69 assists in 97 games.
Speaking about the decision to prolong his stay with the Cats, Malasinski said: "I'm very happy to sign a new two-year contract in Swindon.
"I've enjoyed playing at the club for the last two years and the fans have been great to me and everyone has been very welcoming."
Malasinski won both the Supporters Club’s Forward of the Season and Player of the Season awards in March after spending the season terrorising opposition defences, racking up 42 goals and 46 assists for 88 points in 53 games.
He has also continued to be a regular name on the Polish national roster since arriving in Wiltshire and is currently big news in his homeland after finishing as joint top goalscorer at the recent Division 1A World Championships.
Wildcats player/coach Aaron Nell has already tied down nine key players from last season for 2016/17 and was over the moon to have bolstered his roster with the services of Malasinski.
"To say I'm delighted Tomasz has signed a new two-year contract is an understatement," he said.
"Tomasz comes to play every night, he obviously has great goalscoring ability but it's his work rate and 2-way game that makes him so good and valuable.
"He's another great person to have in the locker room and he's highly respected by the rest of the players.
"He's a great player to look up to for our younger players and we are very lucky to have him in Swindon."
