Will Daniel Dubois ever be an undisputed champion?

Daniel Dubois has sent shockwaves through the heavyweight division with his stunning victory over Anthony Joshua.

In a career-defining moment, ‘Triple D’ proved his credentials against one of the biggest names in British boxing, showcasing his devastating power and growing maturity in the ring. With that statement win behind him, he now turns his focus to an even greater challenge: a showdown with Joseph Parker for the IBF heavyweight title.

Victory in this bout would not only earn him a world title but also place him firmly on the path to an undisputed championship fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

Dubois could subject Parker to an early onslaught that the former world champion may not be able to endure. The New Zealander, a previous holder of the WBO heavyweight title, challenges Dubois for his IBF championship on February 22, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Parker is confident that he can take Dubois to breaking point, but he has been warned he might not even reach the second half of the fight himself. Despite being on his own redemption path, admittedly winning over a lot of neutrals with grit and determination, the Dubois vs Parker odds are still in the Brit’s favour. That said, it has the potential to be one of the fights of the year.

These two heavyweights are both in exceptional form. Parker has secured major victories over Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder in his last two outings, reestablishing himself as a serious contender.

Meanwhile, Dubois has been on a relentless path of destruction, knocking out Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic—after which he was elevated to full IBF champion—before stopping Anthony Joshua in September.

Their current momentum makes this an intriguing and high-stakes showdown, with the victor taking a huge step toward an undisputed title fight.

Should he win in Saudi, the path is there to take on ‘The Cat’ and win it all. Dubois is no stranger to facing Usyk, having fought the Ukrainian champion in Poland in August 2023.

That bout saw Dubois push Usyk harder than many expected, even flooring him with a controversial body shot that was ruled a low blow. The extended break that followed allowed Usyk to regain momentum and eventually stop Dubois, but the young Brit walked away with newfound respect and a sense of unfinished business, winning people back around who had previously brandished him a quitter due to the Joe Joyce fight.

Should he dispatch Parker and claim the IBF belt, a rematch with Usyk would be on the horizon—this time with the chance to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

But before he can think about settling the score with Usyk, Dubois must first handle business against Parker.

The WBO champion has rebuilt his career and carries the confidence of a fighter who has faced some of the division’s biggest names, being the more experienced man at 33 years of age.

If DDD can overcome Parker, it would not only be the biggest victory of his career but also the defining moment that kick-starts his own legacy and become a mainstay favourite in the boxing odds.

At just 27 years old, time is on his side, but opportunities like these do not come often. This fight could be the first chapter in Dubois’ journey to undisputed greatness.
