Williams All Smiles As Town Down The U's

Swindon Town manager Luke Williams was spoilt for choice when picking positives from Saturday's away clash against Colchester, as his side hit four past their opponents to collect all three points.

A brace from Nicky Ajose and loanee Michael Doughty sent Town on the path back to winning ways, after previously going without a victory in the last four games.

Williams was happy to see his side get back into the goal-scoring swing and praised the Robins' capabilities on the counter attack.

"To get back to scoring was very satisfying. We went a couple of games not hitting the back of the net so that was a relief," Williams began.

"There was a mini crisis and we’ve shown again that we’re lethal on the attack so we’re going to feel positive we can score goals next weekend. (The first goal) was a key moment in the game. It can give you that sinking feeling when you’re down near the bottom.

"I felt like we lost that control towards the end. I’d give credit to Colchester for that - they came out fighting in the second half and we did lose a bit (of control) but on the flip side we found space up the pitch," he added.

Doughty's duo of strikes were next in line for praise from Williams, who believes the midfielder's confidence will soar now that he has found the back of the net.

"I’m really pleased. It looked like he’d been trying to find room to get a strike off from the edge of the box over the past couple of games. That will give him confidence," said Williams.

Town managed to sweep aside their opponents without the assistance of first team trio Yaser Kasim, Fabian Robert and Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, who each missed the encounter with the U's because of injury.

Speaking about their respective situations, Williams revealed the defender could be first man back on the County Ground turf, while Kasim and Robert may face more sizable lay-offs.

"Yaser (Kasim) has a problem with his knee and Fabien Robert has a problem with a nerve issue giving him symptoms of hamstring problem without any evidence of a hamstring problem.

"Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill is making a good recovery and we expect him to be back involved very soon. It was something in his hamstring that was low grade that could have become more serious," said Williams.

Swindon Town are next back in action on Saturday, February 20, as they welcome Blackpool to SN1. Make sure you're following @TotalSportSwin on Twitter for all updates and coverage.
