Swindon went behind in less than three minutes, after being undone by a Blackpool corner. Aimes' set piece was met by Aldred, as things got off to the worst possible start for Williams' men.
But, keeping their composure and striving to regain the form which saw them overturn Colchester by four goals last weekend, the Robins remained in the tie and soon levelled the score thanks to Ajose's predatory instincts capitalising upon a spilled cross by Blackpool goalkeeper Doyle.
Two further goals in the tie would see Ajose leave with the match ball and Swindon Town sign off as 3-2 winners.
Speaking to local media following the full-time whistle, Williams lavished praise on the way Ajose went about his work on a cold afternoon at the County Ground.
"It is an art. I know it sounds ridiculous but it is an art because it's impossible for it to be coincidence that many times with Nicky," said Williams.
"He knows when to move, he's got that striker's instinct, is the easiest way to sum it up. He's in the right place at the right time because he's thought it through and he's very sharp and very aware," he added.
Ajose is now second in the list of League One top goalscorers, just one strike behind Coventry City's Adam Armstrong. Williams attributes this fine goal scoring form to Ajose's ability to remain ice cool within the penalty box.
"He's a rare breed of player that gets calmer inside the box" said Williams.
"The rest of us panic inside the box and are calmer outside, but he works in reverse somehow, and I think it's a very valuable gift for a striker to be able to assess things very quickly and be calm in the most crucial area," he added.
