Watch: Wright's wonder-strike earns Swindon Town opening day point
Will Wright’s second-half screamer ensured Swindon Town took a point in their League Two curtain-raiser at Chesterfield.
The defender, on his debut for the club, drove from halfway to the edge of the box before unleashing a fierce strike into the top corner in the 64th minute.
The goal cancelled out Armando Dobra’s close-range opener, as Town began their League Two campaign with a 1-1 draw against the Spireites.
The game also marked head coach Mark Kennedy’s first competitive fixture in charge of Town, since taking over in the summer.
Assessing the display, he said: “The performance more than anything is what pleased me but it doesn't half help when you get something, because you don't always get what you deserve in football.
"Hard work is something that I am massive on, I won't go into the physical detail of it but it is something that I demand every day in training.
"We have a couple who that is not natural to but they showed real leadership, character, grit, determination, and just never gave up."
Swindon Town’s next test comes against Crawley Town in the EFL Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm).
