Swindon Town goalkeeper Will Henry reflects on his busy pre-season schedule

Swindon Town goalkeeper Will Henry has reflected on his jam-packed pre-season schedule that has included training with both his club and his country.

Henry, who only turned 19 in early July, spent the first part of the summer in an England training camp ahead of the Under-19 European Championships.

The Swindon number two did not make the final 18-man squad, with AFC Bournemouth's Aaron Ramsdale and Nathan Trott of West Ham selected ahead of him, but that only meant he was back in pre-season with his club straight away.

He has had a full-on summer schedule with Swindon, appearing in the majority of pre-season matches, most recently Tuesday's night's 3-2 win over Chippenham Town, in which he got the full 90 minutes.

"I think every minute, every game I get to play is massive for me," Henry began. "I want to get as many minutes as I can in pre-season just to get myself ready and sharp for the season.

"It's been a really good pre-season and I can take loads of positives out of it. I've really enjoyed myself."

Henry may have had to cut his holiday time short, but he did get to do some work abroad, as the aforementioned England camp was in Spain, and then Town had a pre-season trip to Portugal for some warm weather training.

"A week away (in Portugal) was fantastic, it was a great exercise for all of us. Obviously, with the new lads it was a great chance to bond as a team together and I think we all did that. To be honest, when they all came through the door they settled straight away," Henry continued.

"Training, I thought, everyone was outstanding out there (and) I think the game we played out there was another great performance, it was just a shame we didn't win it but we plenty of chances to do that, it was a fantastic week away."

Finally, Henry commented on his summer as a whole, as well as congratulating the Under-19 England squad that won the Euros.

"It's been a fantastic summer, obviously my life just revolves around football, I'm not too fussed that my holidays were cut short because, obviously, like I said, being called up to England is a massive achievement and I enjoyed every second of it.

"Again, I'm just really looking forward to what the future holds and hopefully having a successful season.

"I kept tabs on it (the Euros), it was a fantastic tournament, I had no doubt that they would do extremely well in that tournament, it's a great bunch of players and they had their eyes set on the Euros for a long time."
