Swindon Town likely to play Luton Town away in next stage of the EFL Trophy
Swindon Town are most likely to play Luton Town away in the second round of the EFL Trophy, but their official opponents will not be confirmed until the 28th of November.
That is because the second-round draw of the EFL Trophy has been made before Swindon's group has been totally confirmed, which it will be when West Ham's Academy have played Wycombe at Adams Park on the 28th.
It is incredibly likely Swindon will finish the group as runners up, as only a win for already-eliminated Wycombe in 90 minutes will see Swindon leapfrog West Ham's Academy to top the group.
After 90 minutes, a penalty shoot-out is played and the loser gets one point with the winner getting two, so even if West Ham draw in 90 minutes and lose the shoot-out, they will qualify as group winners.
Today, the runners up of Group C were drawn against Luton away and the winners will play Forest Green at home. So, if the group goes as expected, Swindon will play Luton but if Wycombe do manage to beat West Ham in 90 minutes, Swindon will play Forest Green instead.
The match, whoever Swindon end up playing against, will come the week commencing December 4.
Swindon qualified from the group last season as winners but were knocked out by Luton, 3-2, in round two.
