Although Murray was still contracted to Watford, the Premier League club have allowed the centre midfielder to complete the switch to Swindon for nothing, as he joins the Robins on a free transfer.
The 22-year-old has been capped at international level for the Republic of Ireland and Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level also spent time on-loan at Wigan Athletic in 2015.
During his time at Wigan last year, he made eight appearances in all competitons and scored in a 4-0 win for the Latics over Blackpool in the JPT.
He has also featured a fair bit for Watford, especially during the 2013-14 season where he represented the Hornets 34 times in the league, scoring three goals.
Murray represented the Hornets 75 times in total, with all of those games coming in the Championship and, in the 2011-12 campaign for the Hertfordshire-based club, he scored seven goals in 18 matches.
