Business boom leads to relocation and recruitment for HR experts

Leading HR provider, the HR Dept, has moved into bigger offices and grown its team by 50 per cent in just a few months, to cater for its expanding business.

The HR Dept Swindon, North Wiltshire and East Cotswolds, and its sister company that covers London and is also run from Swindon, has relocated to more extensive offices within its HQ at Gemini House, Groundwell, North Swindon.

At the same time, the team has expanded as its client base has grown. An extra five team members have been taken on, including an HR consultant, two trainee HR advisers, a senior HR adviser, and an HR administrator.

“Since January in particular, we have seen a big upturn in the numbers of new clients we are welcoming on board,” said Peter Jones, Managing Director of the HR Dept. “We are particularly pleased that by far the majority come to us because of recommendation. We have also had several clients return to us, who had taken a dip during Covid, but are once again needing our services.”

The HR Dept helps clients with everything from creating employment documentation and keeping it updated, to advising on complicated HR and employment law issues, to designing appraisal systems, pay benchmarking and staff surveys - everything an in-house corporate HR department would do but far more cost-effectively.

Remy Morland, the HR Dept’s Head of HR Consultancy, said many clients were now using additional services. “We have enhanced the service we provide for a number of clients. Whereas before they might have only used our advice line, now we are providing hands-on, day-to-day HR support, so essentially acting as their outsourced HR team.”

The HR Dept prides itself on developing the next generation of HR professionals, and its two new trainee HR advisers are the latest in a long line of trainees. Remy herself, who now heads up the team, was the first trainee with the HR Dept.

The HR Dept supports clients in a range of sectors, with manufacturing, IT and tech, and trades being particularly strong. It works with businesses across Swindon, Chippenham, Hungerford, Marlborough, Calne, Devizes, Burford, Lechlade and Carterton.
